Write to the desk
How to reach The Finishing Room, what to send with a correction, and how to suggest the next question the desk should answer.
The desk reads its mail at contact@bindery-spec.com. Write in English, and put the call number of the folio in the subject line if your message is about an existing leaf: BM-002, FE-003, MA-001, WP-004.
A correction
Send the address of the folio, the sentence you believe is wrong, and the source that settles it. A named standard, a machine instruction sheet, a binder's manual or a conservation report is enough to start a check. The folio is then read again, rewritten where it needs it, and republished with a new checked date.
A question for the desk
The next folio is chosen from questions readers send. Describe the job rather than the topic: the format, the paper, the number of pages, the press, the machine you have, and the point where the work stops being obvious. A question that names a press run and a paper weight is easier to answer than one that names a technique in general.
A photograph or a workshop note
Measurements and photographs from a working bench are welcome, particularly of a failure: a cracked fold, a spine that has let go, a case that has warped. A picture with the paper weight, the grain direction and the adhesive named is worth more to the desk than a finished binder's portfolio.
